Construction of a new two storey 220kV GIS building and associated ground works. The building will contain a Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS Switchgear room on the ground floor with a control room, a battery room and a room for future expansion at first floor. The first floor is accessed via two protected staircases. The building is for use by ESB Networks maintenance personnel. This building is an unmanned station building located within an unmanned electrical transmission station, which is remotely controlled from a centralised location via a System Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system via fibre link from a National Control Centre. This is a controlled environment with access restricted to authorised ESB Networks personnel only; the public will not have access. The station is unmanned during normal operations. Monthly periodic visits will be carried out by ESB Networks personnel for inspection purposes, including two maintenance personnel for two to three hour durations.
